When space is limited but performance targets are high, the KOCKS iRSB® intermediate block provides a very compact reduction train. Bringing the proven advantages of KOCKS 3‑roll technology into the intermediate mill – the iRSB® is a powerful alternative to traditional 2‑high H/V stands.
Traditionally, the RSB® technology is used as a finishing unit in high‑performance SBQ mills for straight bar or bar‑in‑coil, and as a pre‑finisher in high‑speed wire rod applications. With the iRSB®, KOCKS has made its proven 3‑roll blocks ready for integration as an compact intermediate mill.
In rolling mills with limited space, the compact iRSB® frees up valuable process length thanks to the elimination of loopers and short stand spacing in a compact block. The iRSB® thus becomes a flexible lever for mill layout optimization – particularly where existing buildings and space constraints have previously set the limits.
