Size Control System

The KOCKS Size Control System (SCS^®) is an advanced closed‑loop control solution that optimizes the operating parameters of the KOCKS Reducing & Sizing Block (RSB^®). In combination with the profile measuring system e.g. the 4D EAGLE S, the SCS helps rolling mills achieve ambitious quality targets by keeping dimensions within tight tolerances – automatically and reproducibly.

WHEN UPSTREAM VARIATIONS
MEET TIGHT TOLERANCES

The KOCKS 3-roll technology is capable of producing the tightest tolerances, for example those required by the demanding automotive industry. The challenge in day‑to‑day operation is when process conditions in the upstream mill are constantly changing – billet temperature, material variations, wear, tension. The SCS^® is designed to respond to these fluctuations and keep the RSB^® in an optimal operating state, so that excellent rolling results become reproducible, bar after bar.

AUTOMATIC CORRECTIONS
OF ROLL GAP & MOTOR SPEED

Based on measured profile deviations at the finished round, the SCS^® calculates corrections for two key quality‑determining parameters of the RSB^® - roll gap of the individual stands and motor speed and thus tension interaction between the stands.
