3-ROLL PERFORMANCE
FOR SEAMLESS TUBES

The SRB® is positioned after the piercer and elongation stages, where it sizes and reduces the tube to its final outside diameter and wall thickness. With its 3‑roll design, the block combines high reduction capability with excellent roundness and dimensional control – turning the upstream hollow into a precise, ready‑for‑finishing product.

Capabilities at a glance

  • 1–16" finished tube size
  • Modular design based on product mix
  • Reliable quality achievements
  • Sophisticated software packages
BORN IN CLOSE INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP

THE FIRST CHOICE
FOR RELIABLE INNOVATION

The latest SRB® generation features an even more compact 3‑roll design. KOCKS continues to rely on the proven StarDrive concept, which ensures individual drive of the rolls in all 3‑roll stands. This proven combination of strong, precise core components and a highly dynamic drive enables tube mills to produce seamless steel tubes of the highest quality – reliably and efficiently.

Benefit from

  • Extremely compact block design
  • Very short stand spacing
  • Highly precise mill setup options
  • Adjustment of roll gaps in the finishing passes

The SRB®: A compact, 3‑roll stretch reducing block that delivers seamless tubes of the highest quality with maximum productivity.

OPTIMIZED OPERATING PROCEDURE

A PHILOSOPHY THAT
SETS NEW STANDARDS

In conventional tube mill designs, rolls are redressed on a special lathe inside the stands. For the SRB®, KOCKS follows a different approach: quick roll changes and machining of the rolls outside the stands. As a result, the KOCKS SRB® typically needs significantly lower investments in rolling stands and inventory – leading to substantial CAPEX and OPEX savings.

The number of required rolling stands is further reduced by adjustable stands, as special calibers can be obtained simply by adjusting the pass diameter. This also results in so‑called free‑sizing capabilities. Radial roll gap adjustments of the finishing stands via remote control allow operators to change the finished diameter within a defined free‑size range or to set the desired ovality of the tubes directly from the control pulpit.

In the control of the rolling process, KOCKS aims for perfection. Heavy End Control (HEC) is essential for minimizing losses at the crop end and for achieving cost‑effective production. The latest generation of Automatic Wall Thickness Control (AWC) successfully homogenizes the progression of the wall thickness over the entire tube length, even across large lot sizes. The 4D EAGLE S allows accurate in-line quality assurance.

CLOSE RELATIONSHIPS AND STEADY OPTIMIZATION

A TRUSTED PARNER
BEYOND INSTALLATION

KOCKS technologists regularly visit customers to discuss the overall performance of the SRB® with the operating team. These visits are highly valuable, as they provide insight into how different customers run their processes and what their priorities are when rolling seamless tubes for different applications.

The close relationships also allow KOCKS to receive direct feedback from the field about changing market requirements and how the SRB® can contribute to further optimizing products and processes.
